I engineered this project from beginning to end. I captured everything and edited everything. Then mixed and mastered everything. These guys are a local phenomenon and they are killing it these days. They are working on an ep and I am not a part of if because the members of the band are well equipped enough to handle it on their own now. Enjoy.
This is a track from Akhenaten, a short lived technical metal band that had unfortunately broken up before all the vocal tracks for their demo were completed. This is the only song that had completed vocals before that time came to pass. Jon Cruikshank and Corey Ahlstrom aided in the recording of this track at IPR’s various studios. Some of the recording set up was taken care by me but I had the dominant hand in mixing and mastering this particular track entitled, “Blind.” This song was the first song I have ever worked on without being a performer in the band.
This track was done entirely in my bedroom with an Ibanez nylon acoustic, a G & L strat, a Gibson Flying V, and an Ibanez 5 string bass direct into my Mbox 2 Mini. The song was mostly written by Steven Anderson and I embellished the track with minor melodic ideas. The first solo was performed by Steve and the second electric solo was performed by me. The drum loop was created by me using Boom, an included plug in within Pro Tools. Seth Ruppert gave some advice on improving the drum pattern over what was first in place. All mixing and mastering was done by me using included plug ins.
This is a track I did for a class project. What we were given was a small session with just vocals and acoustic guitar. Our assignment was to transform this basic singer/songwriter setup into a full on production including whatever instruments we felt would better the song. I programmed simple MIDI drums, played all electric guitars and the bass guitar, and also the piano and organ parts. The harmony vocals were done by Brianna Bernard that works in the Career Services office at my school. I also did minor arrangement decisions towards the end to shorten it up and create a better ending to the song than was originally done. The song is called “You’re Gonna Miss Me”
